What To Expect

Attending a community multi-bed clinic may be a new experience for you, or maybe you are just new to Hilltop. Either way, here is a run down of what to expect when coming for treatment with us on Telegraph Hill, New Cross.

Before your appointment

Before your first appointment with us, you will be emailed a consent form. You will need to fill in some personal details as well as sign that you consent to treatment. All appointments booked include a consultation and an acupuncture treatment.

When booking online, initial consultations are scheduled as 40 minutes and follow ups as 20 minutes. It’s important to note that this is not the length of your appointment, but the length of your time with your practitioner. For initial consultations, please allow up to 75 minutes. For follow up appointments, please allow up to 60 minutes.

Arriving at your appointment

Please arrive on time or ideally a few minutes early for your scheduled appointment time. You will find us in the Garden Room of the Telegraph Hill Community Centre. This is the room straight in front of you when you enter the building, past reception, and down the ramp/small flight of stairs. Come straight into the clinic and take a seat if one is available. If you are early, or the clinic is particularly busy, we may ask you to wait outside for a few minutes.

We are able to offer low cost acupuncture due to the way we schedule appointments. This means that you attending on time for appointments is really important for the clinic and the quality of your treatment. You may find that being late will directly impact the appointment we are able to offer you, either by limited the time for chat, or having to rearrange the appointment. Occasionally, you will have a short wait for your appointment time. Our practitioners work hard to run on time, but in order to provide safe and compassionate care to all, they may sometimes run late. Please bear with them, the practitioners are doing an amazing job of providing accessible acupuncture.

If possible, wear loose fitting clothing to your appointments and have eaten something that day, ideally something light an hour before. It also helps to arrive well hydrated.

Annette Malone (LicAc, MBAcC)

Annette has always had an interest in health and well-being and after many years working in an industry which no longer fuelled her passion she decided to retrain in acupuncture at the respected City College of Acupuncture. Here she learned much about anatomy, traditional Chinese medicine, western medicine and bringing the body back to a place of balance through acupuncture, diet and lifestyle.

Annette is passionate about seeing the person as one moving piece, incorporating the body, mind and spirit and believes that when these things are in balance, we’re giving ourselves the very best opportunity at living a good and healthy life. Areas of interest include mental health, chronic pain, digestive issues and menopausal symptoms.

Available for appointments on Saturdays 8.30-12.30

Emily Greenland-Wright (LicAc,BAcC)

Emily blends Five Element acupuncture with aspects of TCM to create an integrated approach that is individually tailored to each patient's unique needs. She is especially interested in how the cycles and rhythms of the human body are reflective of the seasons and cycles of nature around us - often disharmony and dis-ease can be helped through treatment to reconnect us to our innate nature and authentic path, becoming a part of the wider community and finding our place in life. Five Elements can be especially helpful for; chronic conditions, emotional imbalances - stress, anxiety, low mood particularly at times of life transition or 'gateways', burnout or simply feeling 'blocked' in life.

Emily first came to the medicine as a patient over a decade ago, when she found treatment helped with digestive and menstrual problems, on a bodily level, but also helped her find clarity and provided stress relief during a major life transition and bereavement. Emily offers a calm, gentle treatment approach and her areas of interest include mental health, gynaecology, oncology support and chronic conditions.

Petra Kwan (LicAc, BAcC)

Petra’s journey with Chinese medicine began at the kitchen table, where it was naturally woven into daily life through food. Growing up in a Chinese household, she was immersed in seasonal and herbal ingredients and cultural practices that shaped her understanding of health and balance. This familiarity and curiosity led her to study acupuncture and the depth and coherence of Chinese medicine.

She supports individuals with a wide range of physical and emotional concerns and has undertaken further training in auricular acupuncture and fertility support. Her practice is guided by a sensitive, respectful and patient-centred approach, offering a collaborative path toward health and balance.

Petra has a special interest in postnatal care and in preventative health through the Chinese philosophy of yang sheng (養生), which remains a central inspiration in her work. She runs a private practice in central London.

Available for appointments on Saturdays 8.30am-1pm.
